School Saints

St. Augustine of Hippo

Our school is dedicated to St. Augustine of Hippo because he inspires us to always be searching for love, truth and peace in God in our hearts.

We honour him as a role model for our community. St. Augustine teaches us that true happiness comes from knowing, loving and following God. He once wrote, “Our hearts are restless until they rest in You,” reminding us of this, that true happiness comes from loving God and caring for one another.

He is an example of experiencing a big change in his ways, growing and deepening his faith and using his great writing and speaking skills to help others.

St. Augustine is the patron saint of theologians, philosophers, printers, brewers and converts. His feast day is 28th August.

St. Francis of Assisi

Our school is committed to St. Francis of Assisi, as our Academy Trust saint, because he inspires us to live a simple life, care for people in need and treat all creatures as our brothers and sisters.

We look up to him as a role model for our community. St. Francis teaches us to show compassion, look after God's world and to be a light to others every single day. We follow his Prayer for Peace, “Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace,” reminding us of this, to actively seek bringing peace to others and putting other people before ourselves.

He is a beloved saint, known for his deep kindness, his love for animals and nature and his choice to give up a wealthy life to help the poor and those in need.

St. Francis is the patron saint of animals, pets, ecology, the environment and Italy. His feast day is 4th October.

House Saints

St. Agnes (Yellow House)

St. Agnes of Rome was born in 291 AD and raised in a Christian family. She was very beautiful and belonged to a wealthy family. Her hand in marriage was highly sought after, and she had many high-ranking men chasing after her. However, Agnes made a promise to God never to stain her purity. Her love for the Lord was great. Whenever a man wished to marry Agnes, she would always say, "Jesus Christ is my only Spouse." According to legend, the young men she turned away became so angry and insulted by her devotion to God and purity that they began to submit her name to authorities as a Christian follower. St. Agnes is the patron saint of young girls and chastity and her feast day is celebrated on 21st April.

St. Augustine (Green House)

St. Augustine was born in Hippo, North Africa in 345 AD. His devoted mother, Saint Monica, never stopped praying for him to find his true purpose. As he grew up, Augustine realised that true happiness couldn't be found in material things or popularity, but only through a loving relationship with God. He became a wise bishop, a kind helper to the poor, and one of the greatest writers and teachers in history. Saint Augustine reminds us that it is never too late to make good choices, work hard, and use our unique talents to make the world a better, kinder place. St. Augustine is the patron saint of theologians, philosophers, printers, brewers and converts. His feast day is 28th August.

St. Catherine (Blue House)

St. Catherine, born 25th March 1347 and raised in Siena, wanted from an early age to devote herself to God, against the will of her parents. She spent her life caring for the poor, comforting prisoners, and nursing the sick during tough times. Even without formal schooling, she wrote bold letters and courageously advised leaders and Popes to bring peace and return the Papacy to Rome. "Be who God meant you to be, and you will set the world on fire." St. Catherine is the patron saint of nurses, illness, firefighters, Italy and Europe and her feast day is celebrated on 29th April.

St. George (Red House)

St. George, a 3rd-century Christian martyr, is known for his courage and faith. According to legend, he slayed a dragon to save a princess, a symbol of the triumph of good over evil. His unwavering dedication to Christ, even unto death, has made him a symbol of bravery. St. George is the patron saint of England and his feast day is celebrated on 23rd April.

2025 Jubilee Year: Pilgrims of Hope

In 2025, the Catholic Church held the Jubilee Year 'Pilgrims of Hope'. All members of the global Church family were called to participate in this Holy Year. It was a time to grow in our faith and prayer life. It was also an opportunity for us to re-establish a proper relationship with God, with one another and with all of creation. The Jubilee Year, with the theme – ‘Pilgrims of Hope’, officially began on Tuesday 24th December 2024 and ended on Tuesday 6th January 2026.

As part of our school and Academy Trust celebrations to mark this Jubilee Year, we created a whole school display, with each pupil in the school writing their own prayer of hope on a dove, which then formed one large dove of its own.
